I saw the left-hand-side of this slide today while I was tumblring around and I thought, “Geez you don’t have to skinny to feel these ways!” Any nice, helpful, honest, person should be proud of themselves. Sure, we would feel a bit more awesome if we had the body of our dreams, but our looks are just a small fraction of our identity.

This makes it sound kind of cheesy, but what she wrote is really the key here- I will always be an advocate of people who work out to make themselves feel better, not to drop weight. The biggest transformation becoming active gave me was not becoming “skinny,” it was loving and feeling better about myself.

“When adults say, “Teenagers think they are invincible” with that sly, stupid smile on their faces, they don’t know how right they are. We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken. We think that we are invincible because we are. We cannot be born, and we cannot die. Like all energy, we can only change shapes and sizes and manifestations. They forget that when they get old. They get scared of losing and failing. But that part of us greater than the sum of our parts cannot begin and cannot end, and so it cannot fail.”
